We have a lifelong commitment to the environment. In 2018, we made a decision not to install any new fossil fuel infrastructure and to transition our own household, including our vehicles, from “low emissions” to “NO emissions”. With two LEED accredited partners and experience with photovoltaic solar, ground-source heat pump (“geothermal”), high-efficiency HVAC and super-insulation systems, we advise our clients and are able to implement innovative energy-efficiency measures. We focus on solutions that produce healthy, comfortable and maintainable homes, with a strong knowledge of interior finishes and other measures that affect indoor-air quality and health. Committed to reducing our own carbon footprint, we have lowered our own energy use by over 75% and have installed photovoltaic panels on our house and office. 100% of our electrical needs have been renewable for the past 10 years through our own solar and/or “opt-up” options through our town and utility provider. Other simple measures have included replacing all lights with LED lightbulbs, insulating through Mass Save, and curtailing use of our clothes dryer and dishwasher. Many very effective energy saving techniques are also surprisingly simple.
